The Guard Service
The Defence League’s Guard Service is a permanently operating extraterritorial structural unit whose purpose is to guard the facilities and property of the Ministry of Defence, the Defence Forces, and the Defence League.
Structure of the Guard Service
The Guard Service is a function-based structural unit reporting directly to the Commander of the Defence League. Its composition includes the Guard Service Headquarters as well as the Northern & Western and the Northeastern & Southern Guard Companies. The Guard Service is responsible for managing more than fifty national defence sites, where over 600 guard personnel serve.

The Guard Service HQ is responsible for command, coordination, guidance, and support of its subordinate units
Guard Companies
The Northern and Western Guard Company commands five guard platoons, responsible for national defence sites located within the areas of responsibility of the Northern and Western Territorial Defence Districts. Similarly, the Northeastern and Southern Guard Company also commands five guard platoons, responsible for the national defence sites located within the areas of responsibility of the Northeastern and Southern Territorial Defence Districts.
Symbols
At the center of the Guard Service’s symbolism is a round shield, its surface divided horizontally into gold-yellow and black. On the shield is the silver eagle of the Defence League.
Members of the Guard Service wear an orange sleeve emblem, or an emblem that signifies their belonging to the guard unit.
They are generally the first people encountered at national defence sites.

Basis for Recognition
The Guard Service Decoration of the Defence League has been established to acknowledge the contribution of Guard Service personnel and the services rendered to the Guard Service. It serves as an expression of gratitude for assistance, as encouragement in one’s efforts, and as an award for achievements. All individuals have the right to submit proposals for the award.

Ootame Kaitseliidu valveüksusega liituma Eesti vabariigi kodanikke alates 19. eluaastast, kes on kriminaalkorras karistamata, valdavad eesti keelt ja kes vastavad Kaitseliidu tegevliikmeks vastuvõtmise tingimustele. Või on juba tegevliikmed. Lisatingimuseks on üldfüüsilise testi sooritamise miinimumskoor 160 punkti.
