ERR – According to commander of the Maryland Army National Guard, Maj. Gen. Linda Singh, the partnership between Estonia and the United States that has lasted for nearly 25 years has been beneficial for both countries. Singh is on a week-long visit to Estonia.<\/div>\n
“I sincerely believe that there are no limits to our partnership. We are learning a lot from Estonia, and we are certain that it is mutual,” said Singh, who this week met with commander of the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) Gen. Riho Terras, chief of the volunteer corps Kaitseliit (Defence League) Brig. Gen. Meelis Kiili, chief of staff of the defense forces Brig. Gen. Martin Herem, and Defense Minister Margus Tsahkna (IRL).<\/p>\n

Singh also visited the Ämari air base, the central training area of the EDF, the Baltic Defence College, and the Tapa compound of the 1st Infantry Brigade, where she met with U.S. soldiers currently stationed in Estonia.
\nSingh also spoke at the conference “Women, Peace & Security” organized by the Estonian Atlantic Treaty Association.<\/p>\n

The cooperation of the EDF and Kaitseliit with the Maryland National Guard began shortly after the reestablishment of the EDF in 1993. The Maryland National Guard has helped provide training for Estonian personnel, and strengthen the country’s volunteer defense corps, including arranging training for Estonian helicopter pilots taking part in international missions.<\/p><\/div>\n
